Tessa Wells
Hi there!
I’m Tessa, the creator of Asset Art! I’m a Science Illustrator based in North Carolina.
Tessa Wells is a Western North Carolina based Science Illustrator who works in multiple mediums to create accurate wildlife based works. She has always been interested in both the natural world and art, and began Asset Art with her photography at 14. Intent on combining her passions, Tessa attended Lees-McRae College where she earned a BS in Wildlife Biology, a BS in Studio Art, and a Minor in English. Continuing to combine her passions she earned a Certificate in Science Illustration through the Science Illustration Program at California State University, Monterey Bay.
Her passion for photography enhances her illustration and glass work, allowing her to utilize her own observations of local wildlife in her art. She explores the interconnectedness and biodiversity of ecosystems, and her portfolio primarily features birds, insects, and other wildlife.
With a special focus on the species of North Carolina, Tessa utilizes stained glass, technical digital illustration, and traditional painting to depict the species of her home state. Through each illustration and glass work she hopes to inspire you to learn more about your local flora and fauna, and encourage you to find the same wonder she does in the natural world.
